December 15th, 2022
We were shocked and saddened to learn through a Christmas card from our cousin Moe Smith, of the passing of our dear friend, Ronnie D.D.
My friendship with Ronnie spanned almost half a century, beginning with my move to Antigonish in 1973. During those 49 years we made so many memories. With Christmas approaching, my mind travels back to my annual Boxing Day ping pong tournaments on Ponderosa Drive. Ronnie was always an enthusiastic participant. Rick MacKinnon, Duncan Chisholm, Dougie MacLellan, Ronnie and I enjoyed many laughs. For many years we had a wonderful time playing together on the Jury-Men softball team. Once a month Ronnie, Dougie, Moe Smith, Rod Chisholm, Danny MacIsaac and I, together with our wives, would gather at each other’s houses, each couple providing a special meal.
In more recent years my wife and I were so pleased when Ronnie travelled to Springhill for our wedding. A few months ago he called and we had a wonderful conversation, reminiscing about our past exploits.
Had I known about his passing in time, we would have made every effort to attend his service. I was pleased to know that some of the old crowd was in attendance but disappointed that I was not there to share in the memories and to pay tribute to a very good friend. Ronnie was a character, so full of life and energy; he will be greatly missed.
With sincere condolences,
Elaine & Clarence Falconer
