To the MacGillivray clan:
Judy and I are so sorry to hear of the passing of Pud last Saturday. Pud was my childhood and school friend from about age 5. He was my neighbor on Hillcrest Street. Together, with Danny Bradshaw, we were inseparable right up through our teenage years. We played together and learned to drive together. In the summer, Danny, Pud and myself would camp out at night and practice our driving skills between 2 and 4 am. In those days our parents left their keys in the car at night so it was an easy procedure to push the car out of the driveway, coast down Hillcrest St., then start the engine. We would joyride for a couple of hours and then return the car by starting at the top of Hillcrest and coasting back to the vacant driveway. This all came to an end one evening when, after coasting to the bottom of the hill, we discovered their were no keys in the ignition. We had to push the car back up the hill where we were greeted by the waiting owner. I moved to St. John's in the early 1970's and our time together from then was an annual lunch on Main St. The last one, unknown then to us both, was in August. He had such great humour and always so posiitve. Pud was a dear friend and so very proud of his family. I will miss him very much. And I know he would chuckle at his beautifully written obituary.
