It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our mother, Theresa Elizabeth (MacPhail) Grace, aged 79. She passed away on April 5th in the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax, surrounded by her children, after a very brief and courageous battle with cancer.
She was born to the late John and Christina (Punch) MacPhail. Growing up in her beloved Fraser’s Grant, she had many fond memories of her childhood adventures with her neighbours, being an avid reader, and enjoying her time being outside.
Theresa was a registered nurse for over thirty years - a profession she truly enjoyed and thrived in. Although she received many accolades throughout her career, her true devotion was her role as a wife and mother to her three children, never letting them forget how proud she was of them.
She remained a prolific reader throughout her life and enjoyed gardening; especially tending to her flower beds, visiting with family, keeping up with current events, enjoying her time at the Oak and Owl Club, St. Andrews CWL and playing little games with her grandchildren.
We would like extend our thanks to those who showed her kindness during her time at The Maples
Left to mourn her loss are her three children: Karen (Joey) Doiron of Saint John N.B.; Cheryl (Steve) MacNeil of Fall River and son Ian of Halifax; grandchildren Madeline Doiron and Michael MacNeil along with treasured nieces and nephews; sister Jean Grant (Ontario); sisters-in-law Anne Grace, Donna Chisholm, Theresa MacPhail, Jean Vacheresse; brother-in-law Bernie Grace.
She was predeceased by her husband of fourty-one years, Doug, and by her siblings: Billy, Danny, Catherine MacDonnell, Jerome, Anne, Allan and Elaine; sisters-in-law J. Anne MacPhail, Rowena MacPhail and Mary Mattie; brothers-in-law Alexander Grace, Carl Grace, Donnie Grace, Everett Grace, Howard Grace, Rory Grant, and Alex MacDonnell.
Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 pm on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 in MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St., Antigonish. Funeral Mass 11:00 am on Wednesday in St. Andrew's Church, St. Andrews, Reverend Donald MacGillivray presiding. Burial in the South River Cemetery.
