Obituary of Janet Mathilda Tait

Janet Mathilda Tait, 96, of Antigonish and formerly of Mulgrave, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 30, 2025 in St. Martha's Regional Hospital. Born in Belle Cote, Nova Scotia, she was a daughter of the late John and Jeanie (Gordon) Shaw.

Janet raised her family in Mulgrave. An avid knitter, Janet poured her love into every stitch, creating beautiful pieces that will forever hold the warmth of her spirit. Her talent and passion for knitting were a testament to her creativity and her desire to share her gifts with those around her. She was a member of Trinity United Church and Antigonish Baptist Church.

Surviving are daughter Marian Tait, Antigonish and son Bill (Patricia), Ardoise as well as granddaughter Mikayla, Port Hawkesbury. 

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her husband Colin; sisters Christina, Marion and Ellen; one brother Gordon.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 in the Antigonish Baptist Church, 9 Martin St., Antigonish. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
