Obituary of Inez Marie Forbes

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Inez Marie Forbes on June 13th , 2025, after a brief courageous battle with cancer. Inez was the daughter of the late James Victor Forbes and Louise Marie (Couture) Forbes.

Inez was born in Moose Jaw Sask. and moved with her family to Port Hawkesbury at nine years of age. Completing her high school education as a member of the first graduating class of SAERC, Port Hawkesbury, Inez went on to complete a Diploma in Business Administration at Dartmouth Vocational School. Inez had a long and successful career in Advertising. From early days with the Scotia Sun, The Inverness Oran, The Casket and most recently moving into Radio with 98.9 XFM, Antigonish. Inez brought her talent, work ethic, professionalism, friendship and vast network to each position she held. Inez was a tireless worker and always had energy for extra work and enjoyed her time at Hawthorne Convenience with Ekaterina.

Inez gave back with her volunteer time with the Newspaper Atlantic Board of Directors and as President of the Antigonish Chamber of Commerce. In 2010 she was proud to be among recipients of The Silver Quill Award.

Inez was predeceased by her parents Jim and Louise Forbes, grand daughter Blake and dear friend Cheryl Jardine. Left to mourn Inez are her loving partner Clarence Pelley who never left her side, his children Colleen, Tyler and Nathaniel and their beloved companion, Izzy, brother Jim Forbes Edmonton, twin sister Ina Forbes (Johnny), Troy, daughter Kate Ste. Marie (Jeremy) Alberta, son Bradley MacNeil (April) North Lake Ainslie and her grandchildren Carter and Jace Ste. Marie, Harlow and Knox MacNeil and their mother Sasha.

She will be deeply missed by her many friends who have enjoyed her loyal and unconditional friendship. Generous to everyone she always looked for a way to fill every need, thinking of those she loved first. She demonstrated strength, courage and resilience throughout her life and during her illness. As a woman of infinite talent Inez humbly gained the respect of her peers with her many accomplishments in a challenging career.

We would like to thank Dr. Simms, the Palliative Care Team at St. Martha Hospital and all those who cared for Inez during her illness. Cremation has taken place. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, July 4th in St. Ninian Cathedral, Reverend Danny MacLennan presiding. Donations may be made to the St. Martha's Regional Hospital Palliative Care or the Canadian Cancer Society.
