Saddened to learn of Leo’s passing. As children, our mom would tell the 4 of us to go to see “Mr Chisholm” and get fitted for shoes. He always made us feel so special . I especially remember getting a pair of “saddle shoes” . Then up the street to Jimmy Adams to get some Mo-Jo’s and Honneymoons. Wonderful memories , we were blessed to grow up in the community with store owners like them. Rest in Peace Mr Chisholm, condolences to all his family.

To the Leo Chisholm family
My heartfelt condolences to each of you on the passing of Leo.
He was a prince of a man. I recall as a kid going to his store on Main Street to get fitted for shoes. He was so kind. He also seemed to always have a story to tell. I was mesmerized by the way he packaged up the shoe box with the brown paper and string. He was a master!
He was so well regarded and respected within the Antigonish Community. He volunteered with quite a few organizations. My parents thought the world of him.
May he rest in peace

As Michael’s oldest sister, I concur with all he has said. Leo was a fixture of Antigonish. And as Sheila MacVicar mentioned, our mother too would send us to Chisholm’s for footwear … no money in hand. She knew he would make sure the shoe fitted properly and that he knew the parents so that they could be billed.

Saddened to hear of Leo's passing. Oh how I enjoyed his visits to the Museum! In his 'loafer' years he stopped by regularly, 'just checking out the happenings at the East End' he would say. Always had something to share--an artifact, a photo, a story. He will be missed.

Our deepest codolences to Leo's family. As an uncle he was always generous with his advice and he never missed an opportunity to supply information regarding my roots. He will always be remembered for providing his local knowledge as it showed a tremendous respect of his community. I wish I could be there but I am away from home and unable to attend.
Regards
Joe & JoAnne Chisholm

It is sad to read of Leo’s passing. My condolences to his family and friends. Even as a small child I recognized that when anyone walked into his store, they were greeted as a friend and not a customer. Leo was a people person - kind to all. Earth is a poorer place without Leo but heaven is so much richer. Blessings Paul F Fraser

Dear Kathleen and family: Leo is an example of a "life well lived" - your legacy of a beautiful family and a compassionate-filled life. Leo remains an inspiration and role model for living fully in a community that he loved and showed his gratitude in so many ways. May his energy/spirit and memories of good times be a measure of comfort during those lonesome moments. Blessings to you all - very best, Judy Donovan Whitty/Doug Whitty (PEI since 2000).
