Obituary of Linton Harrison
With grateful hearts, we celebrate the life of Linton Harrison of Antigonish, who died at the age of 95 on Sunday, August 17, 2025.
Linton was born in West Tytherton, Wiltshire, England on May 13, 1930. He spent five years in the army, got his certificate of mechanical engineering, eventually working for Michelin. He enjoyed rowing and golf. He married Jean Malden on October 8th, 1955 and they had five daughters.
In 1974 he immigrated to Nova Scotia and continued his employment with Michelin in New Glasgow, and later on the South Shore. There he had a hobby farm and supported his daughters in their figure skating and horse-riding endeavours. He became involved in the Anglican Church, as a licensed lay reader, diocesan synod delegate and regional council representative. He also enjoyed participating in Scottish dancing and numerous choirs. Eventually they built an underground home in East Lahave, which was one of his favourite places.
After retiring he and Jean moved to Antigonish in 2001 to be close to family and were able to enjoy travelling, playing golf and continued involvement in the Anglican Church at St. Paul’s. He especially enjoyed opportunities to spend time with his family.
Lovingly remembered by his wife, Jean and five daughters, Karen Schuegraf (Ernst), Antigonish; Shirley Harrison (friend, Steve Strauss), North Grant; Bridget Harrison (Jim Schott), Florida; Helen Shaw (Robert), Australia; Wendy Harrison (Sean Bergesen), Halifax; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; sister Theresa Jenkins, Wales; sister-in-law, Ann Harrison, Australia and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Reginald (Rex) and Margaret (Gibbons); brothers Gordon and wife Vera; Martin, and brother-in-law Edward.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, September 22, 2025 in St. Paul's Anglican Church, Antigonish, which will be livestreamed on the parish’s Facebook page (Click here). Reception to follow at Parkland Antigonish.
