Obituary of Daisy Eileen Bray
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Daisy Eileen (Leet) Bray, who left this world peacefully on Monday, August 18, 2025, at St. Martha's Regional Hospital in Antigonish. Born on August 14, 1933, in Guysborough Intervale, Daisy was the cherished daughter of Harriett (Hattie Ehler of Queensport) and Lewis Leet of Guysborough Intervale.
Daisy was predeceased by her beloved husband, Alexander (Sandy) Bray, in February 1992, as well as her son-in-law Andy Gillis, her brother Charlie, her sister Gloria (Bill) Swanson, and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, including Dennis (Mary), Bob Hutton, Imelda (Donald) Beaton, Margie (Arnold) MacLean, and Janet (Ron) Crawford.
She leaves behind a loving family, including her daughters Linda Bray (Jerome) Kenny, Valerie Bray (Dick) Bicknell, and Joy, along with her son Kerry (Darlene) Bray, all of Antigonish. Daisy is also survived by her cherished nieces Trisha Swanson, Monica Williams, and Brenda Ingram; her sisters-in-law Vicki Leet and Iris Hutton; her grandchildren Ashley Kenny of Antigonish, Mark Kenny of Halifax, Amber Riess (Darin) of Parkland Co., AB, and Adam (Pimpa) Bicknell of Empress/Medicine Hat, AB; as well as her great-grandchildren Ava Daisy Kenny Bryson of Antigonish, Brianna Riess of Alberta and Alexa Chaichalid, Thailand.
Daisy dedicated many years of her life as a custodial worker at St. Francis Xavier University, where she was known for her kindness and work ethic. Her love for animals was evident throughout her life, especially her beloved cats, and she found solace in the peacefulness of the ocean. Daisy's early life on the farm, where she faced the loss of her mother at a young age, shaped her resilience and deep appreciation for the simple joys in life. In her later years, she was a resident of the JJ Carroll House, where she continued to touch the lives of those around her.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Emergency and PCU Departments, as well as Drs. Khalid and McGlashan, for their exceptional care and compassion during Daisy's final days.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at MacIsaac Funeral Home, located at 61 Pleasant St., Antigonish. A Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 pm, with burial to take place in St. James/St. Paul's Cemetery, Antigonish. A reception will be held at MacIsaac Funeral Home following the burial, where family and friends can gather to celebrate Daisy's life and share cherished memories. Memorial donations may be made to CARMA Cat Rescue - Antigonish Chapter.
Daisy Eileen Bray will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. May she rest in peace.
