Obituary of Lawrence Robert Allain
Lawrence "Larry" Allain, 83, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025, in Bedford, New Hampshire.
Born on July 11, 1942, in Berwick, Maine, Larry led a life marked by service, dedication, and quiet strength. He pursued higher education with determination, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from St. Anselm's College and later a Master of Business Administration from Michigan State University.
Larry served his country honorably in the United States Air Force from 1967 to 1971. As a legal specialist stationed in Fort Worth, Texas and Bangkok, Thailand, he achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant before returning to civilian life to continue his education and professional journey.
Throughout his career, Larry worked for various government agencies and financial institutions before finding his calling at the Internal Revenue Service. As an IRS auditor and program coordinator, he built a reputation for integrity and excellence over two decades of service before retiring with distinction. His retirement years were split between his home in Hampstead, New Hampshire and his adopted home in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.
A devout Catholic, Larry was a faithful member of Saint Thomas Aquinas Parish in Derry, New Hampshire. His spiritual life was central to his identity and guided his actions throughout his years.
Larry was known for his independence and deep appreciation for peace and reflection. He found fulfillment not only in his professional accomplishments but also in the quiet moments that brought him closer to those he held dear. His life was devoted to family and grounded in values that left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
