Obituary of Stanley Joseph Skinner

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Stanley (Stan) Joseph Skinner in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital on September 5th, 2025, at the age of 73.

Stan was born to Emma (Byard) Skinner in May of 1952 in Guysborough, Nova Scotia.

Stan loved life. He enjoyed anything fun, dancing, singing, sports, etc. Always with a smile, he loved to make people laugh. He was a big sports fan who could be found cheering for his Maple Leafs and the Blue Jays.

He is survived by his brothers Donnie, Delbert, Floyd, Glenn, Blair and Darryl; sisters Joan, Thelma and Debbie; step-brothers Albert and James; step-sisters Gail and Elizabeth.

Stan was predeceased by his loving wife, Kandy (2024); mother, Emma; foster parents Florence (Byard) and Charlie Borden; his brother Robert and his step-brother Lawrence.

Our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at MacLeod Cares Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home. You all were very special to Stan. Thank you as well to Dr. Emily Rice and the team on the Pallative Care Unit at St. Martha’s for your compassion, care and attention in Stan’s final days.

Cremation has taken place – there will be no visitation. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
