Obituary of Eleanor Agnes Weaving
Eleanor (Ellie) Agnes Weaving, 76, passed away on October 18, 2025 with her beloved Ricky by her side after a long battle with Dementia. She was the daughter of Margaret and Trevor Parry (Ottawa). Ellie was a standout baton twirler/majorette in High School who loved the Beatles. She pursued a Recreation Management Degree at the University of Waterloo where she met her husband of 53 years, Rick.
An incredible mother to Charlene (Joe) and Todd (Geneviev) and a most beloved and special Grandma to George, Zoë and William. Her grandchildren brought her profound love and joy. Ellie will be remembered and missed by dear friends for her infectious laugh, hosting fantastic dinner parties, and for her extensive Halloween and Christmas decorations in Chatham Ontario; Candiac Quebec; Florenceville New Brunswick; Omemee Ontario, and Antigonish Nova Scotia.
In Florenceville, Ellie owned and operated the Florenceville Preschool and was awarded a Lieutenant Governor’s Award for literacy for her innovative work in early childhood education of 3 and 4 year olds. Ellie even created a rant about Canada for her preschoolers. Additionally, Ellie was a passionate pet owner: Pansy, Buffy, Brodie, Hummer and Maggie received royal treatment and were spoiled with love. Ellie was zealous about sports and enjoyed skiing, hiking, and was a devoted and enthusiastic hockey mom. She also never missed an F1 race nor an Olympic Games. Finally, Ellie was an interesting contradiction, the demeanor of a Sunday school teacher whose favourite expression was the ‘F word.’
The family extends deep appreciation and thanks to all Staff from the Maples, the entire ACU Staff at St. Martha’s Hospital (where she spent 7 mos), and most importantly to all the extraordinary Staff at High Crest Sherbrooke who cared for Ellie with such compassion and treated her like family during her final 18 months.
A Celebration of Life will be held at later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be to the Canadian Alzheimer’s Society. Ellie’s brain tissue has been donated to the Maritime Brain Tissue Bank.
