Obituary of Brenda Botterill
Brenda Botterill (née Hill), age 93, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Thursday, October 23, 2025 in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish.
Brenda was born on August 21, 1932 to Wilfred and Doris Hill in Bradford, Yorkshire, England.
She is survived by daughter Ruth (Ross) Adams, Cape George; granddaughter Caitlin, Cape George; grandsons Travis (Crystal), Markdale ON; Andrew, Orillia, ON; Jarod (Leah), Cumberland, BC. Brenda will be remembered by great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and missed by extended family and friends. She is predeceased by her husband Bill (Feb. 2001) and daughter Vicki (April 2011).
In her early years, she spent time with her family hiking in the U.K. She was also a very active participant in all of the home renovations she and Bill completed. Knitting, sewing, bridge and cribbage became her hobbies later in life. And BOOKS! Brenda was a voracious reader, and always had at least one book on the go, with four or five more queued up. Her faith was a cornerstone of Brenda’s life, and her involvement in church activities brought her immense fulfillment. She cherished her spiritual community and the connections she made there.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 10-11 am on Friday, November 28, 2025 in St. James United Church prior to the funeral service which will be held at 11 am. Refreshments will follow the service (at St James on the Botterill floor). Burial will take place in St. David’s Cemetery, Cape George at 2pm, with Reverend Peter Smith presiding.
If desired, memorial donations may be made to The People's Place Library, Antigonish, St. James United Church, Antigonish, or the Palliative Care Unit c/o St. Martha's Regional Hospital Foundation.
