Obituary of Catherine Gerarda Doucet
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Catherine Gerard (Kay) Doucet, a cherished member of the Antigonish community, who left us peacefully on November 8, 2025, at the Maples, Antigonish.
Born on October 9, 1931, in Tompkins, Newfoundland, Kay was the beloved daughter of the late Alexander and Florence (MacLellan) Doucet. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, predeceased by her brothers Ron and Fr. Paul, and sisters May and Georgie. Kay is lovingly remembered by her cousins in Newfoundland and her devoted Goddaughter, Donna.
A proud graduate of St. Francis Xavier University in 1974, Kay dedicated many years of her professional life to the Royal Bank, where she served admirably as a Loans Officer. Known for her integrity and kindness, Kay touched the lives of many during her career.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Kay's passions defined her vibrant spirit. An avid golfer and a fan of seniors curling, she found joy in every game. She shared countless wonderful moments at her cherished cottage in Malignant Cove, where laughter and memories with family and friends flourished. Music filled her life, and playing cards with loved ones brought her immense joy. A devout Catholic, Kay lived her faith with grace and devotion.
A visitation will be held to honor Kay's life on Sunday, November 16, 2025, from 2 to 4 PM in MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St., Antigonish. A Funeral Mass will take place on Monday at 10:30 AM in St. Ninian Cathedral, with Reverend Danny MacLennan presiding. Kay will be laid to rest in the parish cemetery.
Kay Doucet's legacy of love, kindness, and faith will remain etched in the hearts of all who knew her. She leaves behind cherished memories and a community that will miss her dearly.
