Obituary of Carmel Chisholm

It is with gratitude for her long and healthy life, that the family announces the passing of Carmel (Floyd) Chisholm, age 97, on November 27, 2025 at home.

Born in Springfield, Antigonish Co., she was a daughter of the late Anabel (Cameron) and Alex Peter Floyd. 

Adored mother, teacher and friend, will be missed by many.

Carmel is survived by her six children, John; Colette; Helen Marie; Gerard, Leo; Anita and sons-in-law Donald Haskett and A.J. Sears; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; sisters Helen Chisholm; Loyola MacDougall; Anne Campbell and sister-in-law Marie Chisholm.

She was predeceased by husband Joseph A. Chisholm, son David and granddaughter Nance.

The family extends gratitude to Dr. Cudmore, caregivers Elsie and Sonya, VON Antigonish and Antigonish Palliative Care Society.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 pm on Sunday, November 30, 2025 in MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St., Antigonish. Funeral Mass 11 am on Monday, December 1st in St. Ninian Cathedral, Reverend Danny MacLennan presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Antigonish Community Food Bank.
