Obituary of Kathleen Joan Chisholm
It is with deep sadness, yet grateful hearts, that the family of Kathleen Joan (Boyd) Chisholm announces her peaceful passing at the age of 85.
Born in Morristown, Antigonish County, on November 26, 1940, Kathleen was the daughter of the late Alex and Mary Jane (MacKenzie) Boyd. A lifelong resident of Antigonish, she was a devoted wife to the late Leo Chisholm and a loving mother who placed family at the centre of her life. Mom and Dad were married for 59 years.
While raising her three children, Kathleen gave generously of her time and compassion to her community. For many years she volunteered with the St. Vincent de Paul Society, the Opportunity Shop, the Antigonish Literacy Council, and the Community Hot Meal Program at Saint James United Church. Her unwavering willingness to help anyone in need touched countless lives and created an enduring legacy of service and love.
She loved walking Bethany, strolling on the beach, and going to the gym. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, tole painting, and crafting. She was a lifelong Tory until the end, and above all, she loved her beloved Morristown.
Kathleen will be forever loved and deeply missed by her daughters Jane (Steve) and Joan (Rene); her son Matthew (Marianna); and her cherished grandchildren Libby, Tess, Rhys, Max, Mya, and Jack. She is also survived by her brother Angus (Adele) Boyd; sister Patsy Dorion; brother Douglas MacKenzie; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
She was predeceased by her husband Leo; her parents; her brother Charles Boyd; and sisters-in-law Sadie Boyd and Jacqueline Page.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home for the exceptional care, compassion, and kindness shown to Kathleen and her family throughout her time there. A special thank-you to Elaine Bowie and Mom’s brother Doug MacKenzie for everything they did during her time at the RK.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Kathleen’s life will be held in Summer 2026.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Kathleen’s memory may be made to the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home or the Community Hot Meal Program at Saint James United Church, Antigonish.
Rest in peace, Mom. Your love lives on in all of us.
