Obituary of Frederick Hugh Beaton

Beaton, Frederick Hugh - Beloved husband, father and grandfather. Born in 1943 in Inverness to Hugh and Josie (MacLennan) Beaton he was the eldest of nine children. 

Fred moved to Beaver Meadow, Antigonish County with his family at 16 and was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier Univeristy. He had a long and varied business career starting with Bell Canada in Ottawa and ending with Metromedia Fiber Network in Boston. While living in Halifax, Fred served on the Board for St. Leonard's Society and was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society  in Antigonish. He also served as a public representative on the Board of the College of RN's and LPN's for Nova Scotia. He loved playing Bridge and was a member of Club 60.

Fred is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sharon (Lukeman), sons Colin (Michelle), Calgary; Neil, Calgary; grandsons Joey and Gabe Thomey; sisters Moie (Paul) MacGillivray; Margie (Ed) Harrington; Mary Jo (late Terry) Kelly; Agnes (Tom) Carpenter; brothers Donnie (Hughena); Charlie (Glenda); Rock (Ardis). He was predeceased by daughter Leslie Thomey in 2011 and brother John (Barbara) in 2000. 

Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or service, as Fred requested. Our deep appreciation to Fred's caregivers at the RK MacDonald Nursing Home and the Inverary Manor.
