Obituary of George MacDonald

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of George (Buddy R.) MacDonald of Brierly Brook, Antigonish County, aged 91 years. He was the son of the late Hector and Susan (Bowie) MacDonald.

Buddy lived on the old homstead and operated the family farm. He also worked for the Department of Highways for 30 years until his reitrement.

Buddy is predeceased by his son Jimmy; first wife Catherine Patricia (MacLean) MacDonald and second wife Dorothy MacDonald.

He is survived by his sisters Margie (John) MacGillivray, Antigonish and Ann (late James) Thompson, Halifax as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the doctors and nurses at St. Martha's Regional Hosptial, the Palliative Care Unit as well as Antigonish Homecare. Many thanks to Kimberly Haverstock, Darrell and Stacy Myers, Crystal and Joshua MacDonald and any others who helped along the way.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday, May 13th in MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St., Antigonish. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday in St. Ninian Place (located behind the cathedral) Reverend Danny MacLennan presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
