Obituary of Glenn Edward Long
Long, Glenn Edward, 69, Salmon River Lake, Guysborough County passed away peacefully surrounded by family in Milford Haven Home for Special Care, May 30, 2026. Born on April 13, 1957, Glenn was the beloved son of Clarence and the late Irene (Connolly) Long.
In his early years, Glenn worked with the Department of Transportation. In more recent years, he was involved in the Christmas tree industry, as well as putting his carpentry skills to work alongside friends John and Alex.
Glenn had a deep love for fishing and was both knowledgeable and skilled. In later years, he especially cherished time spent fishing with family, sharing a pastime that others couldn’t help but grow to love in his company. He had a special connection with children; his kind, playful nature made him someone children instantly gravitated to. Though he was a quiet man who didn’t seek the spotlight, those who asked him to retell a story were always rewarded with his special charm and warm sense of humor. Glenn will be remembered for his quiet kindness, his love of family, and the simple joy he brought to those around him.
Glenn will be deeply missed by his children, Steven (Lesley), Ashleigh (Nick), Shannon (Dave), and Patrick, and by his cherished grandchildren, Ethan and Aiden. He is also survived by his brothers Bernard (Ellen), Danny, Jimmie (Mary), and Kenneth, and his sisters Barbara (Henry) Overmars and Iris (Francis) MacNeil, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the nurses, doctors, and staff at Guysborough Memorial Hospital and Milford Haven Home for Special Care for the compassionate care shown to Glenn.
Visitation will be held on Friday June 5th from 2–4 p.m. and 6–8 p.m. in MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant Street, Antigonish. Funeral Mass will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday June 6th in St. Thomas Church in Salmon River Lake.
