I will always remember the lunch and dinner dates we would often do together at my time at St. Francis Xavier University. Aunti Betty and I would talk for hours on end, from my experience in university, to the readings she would come across at the archives, to reminiscing about family stories and memories. Her deep love and care for people had a way of making you gravitate towards her and make you feel welcomed and at home (even the orange cat that would sometimes stroll in her home for shelter and a bite to eat!). I was truly at home away from home with Aunti Betty and will always appreciate the support and warmth she had given me in the short time I've known her. I am lucky to have been a small part of her inspiring life and will forever cherish her memories close to heart.
May her loving soul always live on in the hearts of the people that have been blessed to have met her.

Auntie Betty was a special lady. She exemplified all the best of being Canadian, and people like her is what think of Canada as our future home. Her long life learning journey and her unwavering support for all that she believed in and her family is inspiring. We fondly remember our visits with her and uncle Michael in Toronto, the attic full of toys for the kids and her Arabic meals that she prepared for us. We also spent some good times in Antigonish that we will always remember. A great lady indeed God Rest Her Soul.

I met Betty, Mike and Tim through Georgia, Gerry and Pete - members of St. Johns, and fellow collaborators in the inclusion and celebration of all folks! Later they became neighbours and supporters of our business, Alternative Grounds, with Betty blessing our opening and Tim doing local deliveries. Betty was the calm in any storm and had a way with words that was always thought - full and inspiring. She graciously stewarded my moms celebration of life. Grace, is in fact an apt word for how Betty lived and gratitude is what I feel to her for sharing with us.

We always looked forward to visiting Auntie Betty and Khalo Michael in Toronto knowing that auntie Betty’s warm and caring energy along with her beautiful laugh would greet us when we arrived. She cared deeply about her family and we were touched that she took the effort to stay in touch with us for years after leaving Toronto both through letters and phone calls.
My condolences to her kids and grandkids. We are sending you love and will always hold fond memories of Auntie Betty. May she rest in peace ❤️
