Obituary of Mary Ruby Watson

It is with heavy hearts and deep love that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Mary Ruby (Ruby) Watson (nee Doiron), on July 6^th, 2026, at the age of 71, in St. Mary’s Memorial Hospital, Sherbrooke, Nova Scotia. She was the heart of our family, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering love and grace.

Born in Halifax on 17^th May 1955, Mary Ruby Doiron was the daughter of the late Leo and Ruth Doiron. She built an extraordinary life alongside her devoted husband of 52 years, John Watson. Together, they raised three children: Lynn (Roberto), Aimee (John) and Nathaniel. She was a proud and doting grandmother to one granddaughter, Cassandra.

Ruby dedicated her life to her family and her community. She was a hard-working and well-respected accountant. Beyond her career, she was known for her volunteer work and generous hospitality. She brought joy, warmth, and laughter to everyone fortunate enough to know her.

She is survived by her loving husband, John; her children, Lynn, Aimee, and Nathaniel; her granddaughter, Cassandra; and a wide circle of extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held Sunday, July 12th from 2-4 pm & 6-8 pm in MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St., Antigonish. Funeral Mass will be held Monday, July 13^th at 1 pm in St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, located at 8033 Highway 7, Sherbrooke, Nova Scotia. Burial in Riverside Cemetery, Sherbrooke. Reception to follow at the Sherbrooke Lion’s Club. 

A second celebration of her life will be held on 15 August 2026 from 2-5 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 116, located in Seabright, Halifax County. All who loved Ruby are welcome to attend and share their favourite memories of her.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made, in her honour, to Cancer Research or Saint Mary’s Memorial Hospital Society.
