Obituary of Michael Alexander MacDonald

March 21, 1944 - August 6, 2026

Michael Alexander MacDonald, (Mike Nin) formerly of Big Marsh, Antigonish County, died peacefully in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital on August 6th, 2026.

He was predeceased by his parents Ninian and Mary (Cormier) MacDonald, his partner Carmel Gallagher and former wife Fran Reilkoff.

He is survived by his daughter Sadie MacDonald, Nelson, BC.; and his sons Tobias (Yuuki) MacDonald, Ladner, BC and Hugh (Vicky) MacDonald, Pinevale, Antigonish County.

Grandfather to Gaelin (Ashton) Armstrong, Victoria, BC; Hugo and Wren MacDonald, Ladner, BC; Ben and Maggie MacDonald, Pinevale, Antigonish County.

Sisters Bonita (Chuck) Musial, Monticello, Mississippi; Ninette (late David) Atwood, Ottawa; brother RJ (Dianne) MacDonald, Meadow Green, Ant. Co.

Uncle to Pam (Tony) Quick, Perth, Ont; Paulette (Jayson) Hill, Markham, Ont.; Patti Atwood, Ottawa, Ont.; Zach MacDonald, Bangkok, Thailand, Chapin (Riza) MacDonald, Halifax; Maia MacDonald, Halifax.

An avid reader and story teller, he was a friend to many who will miss his wit and intellect.

Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or service.
