Obituary of Marie Cecilia MacDonald

Marie Cecilia MacDonald; age 92, formerly of McArra's Brook, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 27. 2017, surrounded by the love of her family. Born May 8, 1925 she was the daughter of the late Daniel Martin and Sarah MacDonald. All of her life, Marie was a faithful member of the Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Lismore. She was a long-time member of the CWL where she volunteered at many lobster suppers as well as provided many knitted items for the craft table. Marie was a dedicated, hard worker at the St. Martha's Regional Hospital in Antigonish where she served as a baker for over 25 years. She was well known for her baking skills, especially her cinnamon rolls and biscuits! Her family will miss her large gatherings where the food was plentiful and delicious. Marie enjoyed attending the annual Antigonish Exhibitions where she won many ribbons in baking contests and enjoyed watching a variety of horse related competitions. She had a great passion for knitting and made numerous mittens and socks for her family as well as for community fundraisers. Surviving are her daughters, Ann (Jim) Clarke, Hamilton Ontario; Marion (John) MacEachern, McArra's Brooke; Betty MacDonald, Antigonish; Colleen (Harold) Teasdale, Antigonish; sons, Donnie, Antigonish; Angus (Jean), Carl (Sheila), McArra's Brook. Stuart (Elaine), Lismore; Lawrence (Shelley), Kevin (Lori) Lower Barneys River; grandchildren, Sandi (Mike) Falcone, Duane Clarke, Lindsay (Mark) Medeiros, Laura MacDonald (Jason Burke), Rhonda MacDonald (Tyler Prince), Mallory MacDonald, Craig (Rachel) MacDonald, Alison (Jesse) MacDonald, Kristen (David) Haverkort, Amanda MacEachern, Shaun MacEachern, Ryan MacDonald (Jackie Ewart). Robert MacDonald (Allison Gaudet), Scot Smith, Keri Smith, ( Deon O'Neil) Lorenne (Nick) Olding, Brandon (Alexis) MacDonald, Kelsey MacDonald, Alicia Teasdale, Bradley Teasdale. Miranda Teasdale, Ginney MacDonald (Caleb Taylor), Dylan MacDonald. Mcarra MacDonald; 19 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband Francis Joseph MacDonald; daughter-in-law. Marlene MacDonald; granddaughter, Melissa Dawn Teasdale; brother Reginald Martin. The family would like to thank Sister Catherine for her thoughtful prayers and her calming words of wisdom They would also like to thank St. Martha’s PCU Department. nursing Staff and the many food donations from family and friends. A special heartfelt thanks to Dr. Michelle Murphy who has been her kind and caring doctor for over 40 years. Dr. Murphy's love and dedication to our mother will never be forgotten. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Thursday June 1st 2017 in Maclsaac Funeral Home, Antigonish. Funeral service will be held 11 am. Friday June 2nd in Saint Mary’s Catholic Church , Lismore. Rev. Colin MacKinnon presiding. Burial in the Parish Cemetery. Family flowers only.
