Obituary of John Donald Joseph Danny MacPhail

John Donald Joseph Danny MacPhail; 84, of Heatherton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, with family by his side, in St. Martha's Hospital. Born in Antigonish, he was the son of the late John and Christina (Punch) MacPhail. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Parish, Heatherton, worked for NSPC as a digger operator for many years. Danny enjoyed playing cards, bowling and washer toss; and was an avid sports fan, especially the Rural Hockey League. He enjoyed the woods and his camp in Fraser's Grant. He was a very devoted husband. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Theresa; siblings Catherine (Late Alex) MacDonnell, St. Andrews; Jean (late Rory) Grant, Etobicoke, ON; Anne MacPhail, Antigonish, Jerome (Anne), Fraser's Grant; Theresa (Doug) Grace, St. Andrews; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Billy, Allan, and sister Elaine. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 pm Friday in MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St., Antigonish. Funeral mass 1:30, Saturday, July 1, 2017 in Immaculate Conception Church, Heatherton. Rev. Andrew Gillies presiding. Burial in the Parish cemetery. Donations can be made to the SPCA.
