Obituary of Maria Leonie Vromans

Vromans (née Baetsen) Maria Leonie, age 93, wife of deceased Harry Vromans, passed away September 30, 2017 at North Queens Nursing Home, Caledonia, NS, surrounded by her children.Marie, the oldest of fifteen, immigrated to Canada from Holland in 1952, with her husband Harry and Infant daughter. Most of her married life was spent in Antigonish, NS where she dedicated her life to family. She was a great cook. She loved to garden, read, and bake. Later in life she took up oil painting. Her artwork depicting florals and pastoral scenes are cherished by friends and family. Marie leaves behind five children, Marie (Horace MacPherson), Liverpool, NS, Aleisha (Bob Beaulieu), Coventry, CT, Albert (Pauline), Coventry, CT, Gus (Patricia), Liverpool, NS, Jackie (Jonathan McCoy), Portsmouth, NH. 'Oma' will be missed by her seventeen Grandchildren and twenty Great Grandchildren. She is survived by her brothers, William and Gary of Ontario, and sisters Christine, Annie, Leonie, and Greta of Nova Scotia, Nellie and Elsie of Ontario. Visitation, 6-8 PM Thursday, October 5 at MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St, Antigonish, NS. Funeral Mass, Friday October 6, 11 AM St. Ninian Cathedral, Antigonish, Rev Donald MacGillivray presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery.
