Obituary of Camilla Elizabeth Pembroke

Camilla Elizabeth (Ryan) Pembroke (August 9, 1921-September 17, 2015) passed away peacefully at RK MacDonald Nursing Home, with family and ever-caring staff at her side. Born and raised in Canso. She was a long-time resident of Antigonish, a faithful member of St. Ninian’s Cathedral Parish and CWL, and a life-long member and proud ambassador of Weight Watchers. She taught school in Canso, Melford, and many years in Antigonish town & county. Camilla was always pleased to meet the many former students who stopped her throughout the years to relate fond memories of being taught by her in the past. Camilla welcomed all who came to visit, whether they were family, a dear friend, someone who needed a temporary home, or the neighborhood children seeking her delicious homemade cookies and fudge. Mourned by son Gerard (Marilyn), daughter Mary (Brian, deceased), grandchildren Sandy, Michael, David (Caroline), and Jessica, great-grandchildren James, Nicolas, Colton, and Annabelle. Dearly loved by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by young son Michael, husband Dick, parents Patrick and Florence (Sullivan) Ryan, brother Patrick Ryan, and sister Mary Lukeman. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 pm Sunday, September 20, 2015 in MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St., Antigonish. Funeral Mass 11:00 am, Monday in St Ninian’s Cathedral, Rev. Donald MacGillivray presiding. Burial in the Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Ninian's Cathedral Parish, St. Ninian’s Cemetery Fund, or a charity of your choice.
