Obituary of Mary Patricia Macdonald
Mary Patricia (Patti) Macdonald, 62, New Glasgow, formerly of Antigonish, passed away November 16, 2017 in the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital. Born in Antigonish, she was the daughter of the late D.D. and Pat Macdonald. She is survived by sisters Jane (Keith MacDonald), St. John’s NL, Eileen (Ed Cochrane) Deep River Ontario; brothers Charlie (Carole) Macdonald and Bruce (Jane Anne Horne) Macdonald of Halifax; 10 nieces/nephews and 6 grandnieces/nephews. Patti attended St. F.X. University (BSc. Nutrition), University of Toronto (MHSc.) and Dalhousie University (BSW). She worked for the government of NS in various capacities since 1981, retiring after 30 years of service. Patti was a loving and supportive sister, aunt, grandaunt, cousin, friend and neighbour. She treasured spending time at the family cottage at Mahoney’s Beach, tending to her garden, swimming in St. George’s Bay, visiting with family and friends, and showering her favorite cats and dogs with love. During her illness, she was supported by many, including Dr. Marion MacDonald, her family physician, and her close friends and neighbours who showed her great love and kindness. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 pm Friday November 24in MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St., Antigonish. Funeral mass will be held at 11am Saturday, November 25 St. Ninian’s Cathedral, Antigonish, Rev Donald MacGillivray presiding. Patti requested that any donations in her memory be made to Doctors Without Borders, VON Pictou County, or the Palliative Care Unit, Aberdeen Hospital.
