Obituary of Marian Naczk
It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the passing of Dr. Marian Naczk on December 9, 2013 at St. Martha's Regional Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born in Wejherowo, Poland, where he received all his education including a Ph.D. from the Technical University of Gdansk.
Marian was the devoted husband of Julita with whom he shared forty years of fruitful and enjoyable life. He was a loving and proud father of Aleksandra (Cameron) of St. John and Katarzyna (Campion) of Ottawa. He adored and cherished his grandchildren— Bronson and Anna— who were the apple of his eye.
Marian joined the faculty of St. Francis Xavier University in 1989 where he was actively involved in teaching and research. Prior to joining St. FX he worked at various universities within Canada and the United States.
Marian was a man of many talents and abilities. He was equally at home in the lecture hall as he was in his garden; presenting a paper at an international conference or enjoying a glass of wine with his friends; baking the best cake in town or writing over a hundred research articles; cracking a joke or working in his laboratory. Despite his remarkable achievements he remained an unassuming and humble man, always willing to give a helping hand. Big in stature and in intellectual attainments, fearing nobody but God and his wife—in that order. Marian will be greatly missed by his loving family and his friends.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of MacIsaac Funeral Home. There will be no visitations. Donations may be made to the cancer society or a charitable organization of one's choice. The funeral will take place at Saint Ninian Cathedral Parish on Thursday, December 12 at 10am with Rev. Donald MacGillivray officiating. Reception to follow at Saint Ninian Place. www.MacIsaacs.ca
