Obituary of Stanley Smith
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Stanley Smith, 76, of Antigonish, formally of Cross Roads Ohio, Antigonish County. Surrounded by his family, he passed away peacefully at home after a brief, but courageous battle with cancer. Born in New France, he was the son of the late John R and Mary (Mamie) Smith. Stan retired from Michelin Tire Granton in 1993. He also served as a member on Strait-Regional School Board and he was a member of Antigonish Legion Branch 59.
Stan is survived by his daughters Vonda (Kevin), Brenda (Craig), and sons Jerry (Rachel) and Baron (Dawn), sisters; Theresa (Blaise) MacKenzie and Mary (Don) Ferriss and brother Vincent. He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren; Kendra (Paul) Anderson, Shannon (Dave) and Erin Brophy, Declan, Kuri, Colin, Benjamin and Liam Smith, his great grandson Duncan Anderson; son-in-law Duncan Brophy and many nieces and nephews. Stan was predeceased by his wife (49years) Janann (Maclean) Smith. Besides his parents and his wife he was predeceased by brothers; Jackie, Neil, Jimmy and Cecil. Sisters; Agnes and Mary who died in infancy. Godchild and Guardian Angel Neil Robertson.
Stan had an infectious and fun loving personality. He enjoyed playing cards, darts, and spending time with his friends and family. He also enjoyed watching and coaching AGR softball. He will be deeply missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Visitation 7-9 PM Saturday, 2-4, 7-9 PM Sunday, at the MacIsaac Funeral Home, Antigonish. Liturgy of Christian Burial 2 pm Monday at St Ninian's Cathedral, Antigonish, Father Syd Mifflen presiding. Burial will be at a later date.
