Obituary of Réal Joseph Daigle

Réal Joseph Daigle, 88 of 14 Silverwood Dr., Antigonish, passed away Saturday, August 16 in the R K MacDonald Nursing Home, Antigonish. Born in Gardiner, MA, he was a son of the late Napoleon and Alice (Allain) Daigle. Réal came to St. Anne’s College as a youth, returning to the US to serve in the US Army during WW ll. Following the war, he came back to Nova Scotia to continue his lifelong pursuit of education, graduating from Normal College and St. FX University with a BA and B.Ed. He also spent 7 years in Quebec where he both studied and taught, earning two Masters Degrees from Laval University. He then continued his career as an Educator in Nova Scotia, settling in Antigonish, where he was also active in the community, the St Ninian’s Choir, theatrical productions, and other personal interests. Surviving are his wife Joyce, daughter Claire (Justin Pare), Halifax, son Roch, Antigonish, granddaughter Chandel Daigle, sister Celestine Shienfield, North Chelmsford, MA, two nephews and a niece. Visitation 7-9 pm Tuesday, August 19 in MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St., Antigonish. Funeral Mass 11:00am Wednesday in St. Ninian’s Cathedral. Burial to follow in St Croix Cemetery, Pomquet. Donations to the Antigonish Food Bank.
