Obituary of Helen Catherine MacDougall

Helen Catherine MacDougall, 65, of Pine St., Antigonish, on March 27, 2015 died of cancer in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. She is joining her mother Irene MacDonald and father John MacDonald, sister Carmel Marie MacDonald and baby son Kale John Joseph MacDougall. Helen is formerly of Purl Brook, Antigonish County, worked at St F.X. University as a custodian for thirty nine years. Helen was kind, funny and soft spoken; she never had anything bad to say about anyone. She enjoyed playing cards (forty-fives) trying new recipes and going to pancake breakfasts. She liked gardening and walking the Antigonish Landing. Helen was also a big supporter of, and donating to, local charities, a couple of her favorites were the St. FX food bank and St. Vincent dePaul. Surviving are her soulmate and husband, Donald MacDougall, who held her close while she made her journey to Heaven, also by her oldest son Donald MacDougall (Diem), Vietnam, Byron MacDougall, NS, daughter Uraina MacDougall (Ceilidh Sanchez) Quebec, son Laughlin MacDougall (Jessica), Newfoundland, and her youngest daughter Katella (Dale) Einarson, Manitoba, siblings Mary Emma (Ralph) MacDonald, Claire (Hughie Dan) Punch, Tommy (Rosie) MacDonald, Ester and Daniel MacDonald plus numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her beloved grandsons Dalvin, Sage, Nolan and beloved granddaughter Zaynya. She will be greatly missed, but never forgotten. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 pm Monday March 30, in MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St., Antigonish. Funeral Mass 11:00 am Tuesday, March 31, in St. Ninian’s Cathedral, Rev. Donald MacGillivray presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery at a later date. The MacDougall Family is thankful for the love and support of family and friends, as well as the care of the doctors and nurses in PCU at St. Martha’s Hospital and the palliative care unit in Sydney.
