Obituary of Helen Irene Cook
Helen Irene Cook, 98, formerly of Halifax and Isaac’s Harbour, passed away peacefully, Saturday, May 16, 2015 in the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home, Antigonish. Born in Halifax she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ted Jollimore.
Helen worked for many years as a teletype operator at the Laurentian Hotel in Montreal, from where she retired. She loved to travel, especially to where she could walk a beach. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge.
Surviving are daughter Joan (Purvis) Sponagle, Isaac’s Harbour, several grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and special niece Debbie.
She was predeceased by daughter June Barbara "Peggy" Minckler, Plattsburg, NY and sister Emma Leighton, Ontario.
Visitation 1-3 pm Wednesday in MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St, Antigonish. Funeral service 3:30 pm Wednesday , Rev. Donald MacGillivray presiding, also in MacIsaac Funeral Home. Burial in St. Ninian’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the R.K. MacDonald Foundation.
