Obituary of Colin William MacDonald

Colin William "Collie" MacDonald, 96, RK MacDonald Nursing Home, formerly of South River Road, passed away Friday June 12 with his family by his side. He was born March 9, 1919 in Springfield, Antigonish Co. to the late David and Mary (Chisholm) MacDonald. He was the second eldest of 9 children. Following High school, he graduated from Normal College, joined the RCAF, after the war, taught for 12 years in Inuvik, NWT, returned home, graduated from St Dunstan's University and taught in the province until his retirement. He excelled in many sports in his younger years and ran till age 85. He is survived by brothers John D (Isabel), Gerald (Betty); sisters in law, Mary Ellen, Betty and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Rod, Hugh J. (Mary), Bud, David, Jamie, and sister, Margaret "Girlie" (Oliver) Grant. Visitation on Tuesday June 16 at 2-4 & 7-9 at Mac Isaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St. Antigonish. Funeral Mass Wednesday June 17 at 10:30 am. St.Andrews Church with Rev. Charles Cameron presiding. Burial will be at South River Cemetery.Special thanks to the RK staff for expert care. Family flowers only please. Memorial donations may be made to the RK MacDonald Care Van fund.
