Obituary of Beverley Ann MacNeil

It is with a great deal of sadness and a growing sense of loss that the family of Beverley Ann MacNeil ,wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt, announce her passing on July 11th, 2015. Beverley was born on November 10th, 1936 to parents Roderick(Odgie) and Christena(Cameron)MacDonald in Antigonish a place that always remained the focus of her life no matter where her journey as a new wife and mother took her. After the birth of her third child Beverly left the public work force and concentrated on being the best stay-at-home mom possible. Prior to that she enjoyed many years of employment with the Dept. of Transportation following which her and her good friend Millie owned and operated a very successful restaurant on Main Street Antigonish under the name "MacCaterers Ltd". While the central focus of her life was family, Beverley had many other interests in life. Making and keeping friends was always a priority and with the life long friends she made she proceeded to be the root cause of laughter and fun at the convent in Mabou and locally at Mount St. Bernard.Even today, many untold stories keep coming to light of the pranks that always seemed to involve Beverley. Sports was a central part of Bev’s life and her knowledge of hockey and baseball was truly amazing. She enjoyed being an active watcher as her own children and then her niece and nephews played hockey.Having Aunt Bev present was always a special treat as she displayed a high degree of expertise as to what was going on. The Antigonish Arena was a frequent location for entertainment as she cheered on the various levels of "Bulldog Hockey" and her home became the home away from home for many of the young players. Her cooking skills were well known and highly respected. Her apple pie was probably the most famous and she loved to have friends over and finish a gourment meal with a large slice of apple pie and ice cream. Her summer home at Malignant Cove for the past 33 years was always a long anticipated enjoyment after the winter and provided other opportunities for meeting friends and enjoying great food. Bev enjoyed a huge number of friends .There are just too many to thank for their support and friendship over the last few months. However , sincere thanks and appreciation is offered to the doctors and staff at the ICU.They were excellent and went out of their way to make Bev comfortable.Life long friends like Bo and Liz Chisholm always were there for support.A very special thanks to our friend and family doctor, Dr. Patsy McKenna. With the special health care and love provided by "Patsy", "Mrs. Sarnicki" enjoyed a much longer and happier life. Besides her parents,Beverley was predeceased by her brother Kenneth and his wife Marcie and her sister Miriam. She is survived by her husband of 50 years,Bill, Son Kenneth and his daughters Morgan and Madison and granddaughter Peyton, son Rod and his daughter Sophie, and daughter Kelly Ann and her husband Norman and their three sons Camden, Pirece and Parker;sisters Claire, Abaigail and Isabel(John) Tramble and numerous nieces and nephews.
