Obituary of Ruby Eugena Boone
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Eugenie Ruby Boone, 82, on May 9, 2018 at St. Martha’s Hospital in Antigonish. Ruby left school at an early age to help her mother raise her large family. She worked in the Xavier Hall cafeteria at St. Francis Xavier University for a number of years and at the Snow Queen in South River where she enjoyed meeting tourists from across Canada and the USA. She later moved to Windsor, Ontario where she was employed by Walmart until her retirement. In 2010 she moved back to Nova Scotia to her home in West River. Ruby was always interested in her many nieces and nephews, particularly in how they were doing in school, and offered encouragement to all she came in contact with. Surviving are her son, Sean Robert Boone, Halifax; her grandson Galen McClinsey, Michigan; her special friend and caregiver Jackie Musson, West River; her special niece, Wanda Kiley, Halifax; brothers John J. MacLean (Cavell), Antigonish; Roderick MacLean (Debbie), Kenzieville; Bernard MacLean (Esquimalt, BC); sisters, Anita (Chuck) Camroux, Niagara Falls; Kay (Wayne) Trenholm, West River; Pauline Martell, Halifax; Marjorie-Lynn (Gerald) MacKenzie, Toronto; Bernadette (Alex) Delorey, Beaver Mountain; Brenda (Donnie) MacFarlane, William’s Point; Charlene Druhan, Ashdale; sister-in-law Alma MacLean, Maryvale; and many nieces and nephews. Ruby was predeceased by her husband Ron Boone; parents, John Hugh and Marjorie (MacArthur) MacLean; brother, Everett MacLean, nephews, Jamie MacLean, David Trenholm, Alexander Elijah Delorey; brother-in-law Ben Druhan; sister-in-law, Barbara MacFarlane. As was Ruby’s request there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place and burial will take place at St. Ninian’s parish cemetery at a later date. Her family would like to thank Dr. Michelle Murphy for her loving care of Ruby since she returned to Antigonish. Thanks also to the VON for their many visits to her home in West River and the staff of 3rd Floor St. Martha’s Hospital. Your care and attention to Ruby will always be remembered. May God bless you all.
