Obituary of Thomas Patrick Gilfoy
Thomas "Tom" Patrick Gilfoy, 65, passed away peacefully September 12 at Oakwood Terrace, Dartmouth. Born in Antigonish, he was the son of the late William and Josephine (Tootsie) Gilfoy. Tom grew up in William's Point before moving to the L'Arche Community, Antigonish. He was a long time adherent of St. Ninian's Cathedral and past member of the CACL Workshop. He was a fond lover of music and sports.
Tom is survived by his sister Pat (John) Moffatt, Dartmouth and brother William-Bud (Barb) Gilfoy, Ladysmith B.C., niece Kendra (Robert) Bourgeois, nephews Mark Moffatt, Bill (Louise) Gilfoy, Kevin and Jesse Gilfoy, grand nieces Rachel and Kate Bourgeois, grand nephews Matteo and Alasdair Gilfoy and numerous cousins.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Oakwood Terrace for the wonderful care and compassion that Tom has received. Visitation will be held in MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St., Antigonish, Sunday, September 16, 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass Monday, September 17th, 2 pm, in St. Ninian’s Cathedral, Antigonish, burial in the parish cemetery. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to L'Arche Antigonish or the recreation department Oakwood Terrace, Dartmouth.
