Obituary of Margaret MacDonald
MacDonald, Margaret "Paddy" , formerly of James River, passed away in the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home, Antigonish on Sunday, September 16, 2018. Born on January 21, 1929 in Croft, St. Andrew's, NS, she was a daughter of the late Ben and Sarah (MacDonald) Grace. She is survived by five children and fourteen grandchildren: Donnie (Karen), James River, (Gina, Matthew, Melanie, Allison); Carol Ann (Rupert) Lutes, Campbellton, NB (Jennifer, Melissa, Amanda); John (Lisa), (Lauren, Andrew, Brent); Doug (Kim), (Peter, Maura); Charlene (Shaun) Chisholm, (Tyler, Daniel); all of James River, three great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Mia and Henry, brothers, Everett and Francis of Antigonish. She was predeceased by husband Peter "Paddy" MacDonald, siblings, Leonard, Charlie, Albert, Kathleen, Annabelle, Lou and Annie. She was a member of St. Joseph's CWL for 60 years. She enjoyed a good game of auction and bingo. She always had a fresh loaf of bread on the counter and a piece of homemade cheese. Many haymakers enjoyed her home cooked meals. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and they enjoyed many after school stops at "Grams", as she was affectionately known, for a cookie and a game of cards. Thank you to the staff of the R.K.MacDonald Nursing Home for the excellent care they provided Margaret as well as the companionship and laughs they shared with her. Visitation 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 pm Wednesday, September 19, 2018 in MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St., Antigonish. Funeral Mass Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 11:00 am in St. Joseph's Church, St. Joseph's. Burial in the parish cemetery. Reception to follow in the community centre. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home Foundation or St. Joseph's Cemetery Fund.
