TMy sincere condolences on the loss of a great lady. I admired your Mom so
much. She was always so pleasant and helpful to me whenever I met her
on the streets of Antigonish, or in the political arena. She and your Dad
contributed so much to their community.
It was my honour to know them both.
Sincerely, Joan Gillis (widow of late Blll Gillis)

We celebrate the life of a classy lady.
I first saw tv pictures through her basement window while lying on the driveway
outside. It was '57 or '58. Colin and Eleanor had the first set at the top of Hillcrest.
They were mom and dad's best friends. Our families shared good times and bad.
Eleanor lived long enough for she and I to become friends too.
She was endlessly curious and sharp as a whip and we covered the gossip from
Trudeau to Tiger.
Condolences to the Chisholm family.
How many such people does one meet?

Dear Eleanor and Family,
I’m so sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. I have happy memories of her kindness and patience with us little girls. She put up with us sliding down the stairs on cardboard and jumping on coasters in the living room. Her broiled chicken was delicious!
You will all miss her dearly.

Dear Chisholm family,
I cried a few tears when I heard Eleanor has passed away. She was a very special lady. I loved visiting her over the years. When I was young and mom would bring me across the road I would stand in the middle of what I considered the most beautiful living room on the world and just look around, afraid to touch anything. I remember sitting on the floor listening to both your mom and dad talk about the town of Antigonish, politics, people. It was always a thrill. Your father gave me my first paying job, spending the night at the town hall watching to make sure no one vandalized the new statue of a horse and plow on the sidewalk out front. (I'm pretty sure Mom told him I needed to make some money) And Eleanor helped me get a job for the summer answering phones at her real estate office. But my best memories are more recent. Every halloween for the past 13 years I have taken our children, Sydney and Colin (named after your dad) to visit Eleanor. They came to look forward to the visits to Granma's friends on Hillcrest Street. I am sorry for the sadness you are all having to feel right now. Eleanor was one of mom's most loved and respected friends. We will miss her very much.
Love,
Jennifer Nunn, Paul Boyle, Sydney and Colin

My condolences to all the Chisholms. Eleanor was our life-long neighbour, our mom’s good friend and - I think-her distant cousin. She was my Godmother and bought me my first radio, a transistor portable, when I was about ten. I was fascinated. She had the skill to take apart and repair my G I Joe when Brock and I got it wet while playing together at age 6. Much later, Eleanor welcomed my own boys in warmly at Hallowe’en and treated them with such ease and generosity that they remembered that visit for some time. They liked “Mrs. Mayor”. She was very likeable, very kind. A great spirit.
Peace. Bruce Nunn

As the new family on Hillcrest in 2007 ‘Mrs C’ was immediately welcoming to our family, and especially our kids. She supported them in their fundraising efforts and welcomed them with Werthers and a generous tip when they started delivering the paper. More importantly, she welcomed them with a
big smile and comfortable conversation that made them feel welcome and important.
We’ll miss you on the street MrsC
