Obituary of Allan Vincent MacNeil

We regret to announce the death of Allan Vincent MacNeil, 62, of Ashdale, Antigonish County, who passed away January 16th, 2016 at St. Martha's Regional Hospital. Allan was born October 27, 1953 to the late William "Bea" and Catherine MacGillivray) MacNeil of Ashdale. Allan was a welder by trade and took pride in his work spending many hours building and fabricating projects. Allan started his own construction company with 1 backhoe 36 years ago. He worked many years with MT&T and the Town of Antigonish building long lasting relationships along the way. In recent years Allan and family have continued these relationships and developed many more. During the 36 years of operating a construction company Allan’s true passion were the cattle, where he continued to operate the beef farm his father started. Allan is survived by his loving wife Lorraine (MacDonald), son Ian (Tiffany), Ashdale; Claire (Ashley MacHattie), Lochaber; Alicia (Vance MacIsaac), Dunmore, six grandchildren. Katie, Alex and Will MacNeil, Jared and Bria MacHattie, Kaylin MacIsaac brother Francis (Iris), Ashdale; sisters Bernadette (Ernie) MacDonald and Ann Marie (Phonse) Archibald, Lochaber; Miriam (Eldon) Farrell, Stellarton; Donalda (Ralph) Mattie, Tracadie, sister in law Mary Janet (Robert) Grant and brother in law Dominic Landry, both of Beaver Meadow. Allan was predeceased by brother James and sister-in-law Frances. Visitation 7-9 pm Tuesday and 2-4 aand 7-9pm Wednesday in MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St., Antigonish. Funeral Mass 11am Thursday in St. Ninian’s Cathedral. Burial in St Joseph’s Cemetery, St Joseph’s. Donations to St Joseph’s Cemetery Fund.
