Obituary of Katherine MacDonald
A special lady peacefully went to sleep on Tuesday, August 6th, in her own bed in her own home.
Katherine Dove MacDonald (Kaye) was the daughter of the late Chester and Mary Dewar, Marshy Hope. She married William Huntley MacDonald in December 1950 and raised their two children, Brian and Alice in James River.
Kaye was a talented seamstress, quilter and baker. In her younger years she assisted many families with their children and their households. She later worked many years at Adams Bakery in Antigonish. Kaye was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She amazed us all with her keen mind which she maintained right until the very end of her long life.
Kaye is survived by son Brian Huntley (Liz), James River, and daughter Alice Lorraine (David), Peterborough. She adored her grandchildren Jeff (Jen) MacDonald, Jenna (Pat) MacDonald-Wilson, Rachel (Brent) Platt, and Hillary and Brittany (Alex) Waters, and was very involved in their lives. She loved visits from her great-grandsons Zac, Greyden and Briar MacDonald.
Kaye is also survived by sister Margaret (Jim), brother Bill (Sheila), and sisters-in law Mildred, Sylvia, Mary Jane, and Marion.
She was predeceased by siblings Gladys, Edgar (Marjorie), Helen (Alex), Robert, George, Christine (Hughie), Ernest, and Roy.
A Heartfelt thank you to Dr John Chiasson and the Antigonish and Area Homemaker Service.
