Obituary of Tena Landry
Tena Landry, 70, of Lower South River, Antigonish County, passed away peacefully, Thursday, February 18, 2016 in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital. Born in Wanroij, Holland, she was the oldest child of the late Martin and Anna (Van Haare) Van Den Heuvel.
Tena was a very gifted person, there was no craft she could not do, and passed along her expertise working at the Antigonish 5 to $1.00 Store for thirty three years. She was also a beautiful cook, feeding many who had no one else to cook for them, catering to countless functions and creating beautiful wedding cakes. Tena was a member of St Andrew’s parish where she decorated the church for Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas for many years. She was also very active in the community participating in the CWL, 4H, Fire Department and an enthusiastic supporter of the Jr. A Bulldogs.
Tena was "very colourful" and was known to speak her mind, such as clearly stating "If I can’t have gravy, I may as well be dead". An avid card player Tena was not afraid to make big bids, and loved to win them. She will also be missed by her kitten, "my baby"
The family would like to thank Josie, who has been very good to her the past few years, for her kindness.
