Obituary of Ronnie McIsaac
Ronald “Ronnie” James McIsaac, passed away on January 20, 2020 at the age of 59, in the QEII Heath Sciences Centre, Halifax Infirmary site.
Born in Halifax in the Grace Maternity Hospital on February 1, 1960, Ronnie was a son of the late Harold and Helena (Gerrior) McIsaac.
Ronnie was employed with Lindsay’s Construction as a concrete saw cutter and core driller for over 20 years up until his retirement last February. Ronnie was a long standing member of the Carpenters Union (local 83); and even after his retirement Ronnie continued to visit his many friends and co-workers at various job sites in the area.
Ronnie loved to spend time with his family and friends, going on runs with his ski-doo, 4-wheeler, boats, trucks and many other toys! He loved to spend time at his cottage in Charlos Cove. Ronnie was the type of man who was always willing to lend a hand and would give you the shirt off his back. We will always remember him as the man who would drop everything on a dime to help, the man who took on the role of a father and grandfather; bringing a light into a world that was once dark.
He is survived by his loving wife Margie (Layes) with whom they shared 18 wonderful years together. Daughters Alyssa (Alex) Roy, Calgary, Kelsey (Willie) White, Frankville, Special daughters Lacey Bowman, Monastery, and Charley Bowman (Shawn Doyle), Antigonish. Siblings: Trudy (Jimmy) Newman, Halifax, Michael (Bonnie), Antigonish, Perry (Pauline), Charlos Cove, Faith, Halifax and Marina (Bruce) Gauthier, Halifax; Grandson Alexander Doyle, father-in-law, Francis Layes, Monastery, brothers-in-law Francis Layes, Monastery, Robert (Mary) Layes, Heatherton, sister-in-law Shirley (Stan) Wright, Lower South River; his loving pet Zeus and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, brother Hughie, sister-in-law Jacqueline Layes, maternal and paternal grandparents.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 24 from 2-4 and 7-9 in MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St., Antigonish. Funeral Saturday 11 am in St. Ninian Cathedral, Rev. Donald MacGillivray presiding. Burial will be held at a later date.
Family flowers only, in lieu of flowers we encourage Ronnie’s family and friends to have a Bud (not lite!) in honour of him. Donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. www.MacIsaacs.ca
