Obituary of Wilfred John Edward Girrior

Wilfred John Edward Girrior, 64 of Williams Point, Antigonish County, died Thursday, March 17, 2016 in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Antigonish, he was a son of the late George and Marie (Guimond) Girrior. Wilfred was a well-known auto mechanic having started working with Gerald Jones Enterprises in the late 1970’s and later with MacFarlane Service Center. He was actively involved in stock car racing, both as a mechanic and driver. He was a founding member of the Antigonish County Volunteer Fire Department. Wilfred was a quiet and gentle man, enjoying quiet time at home with his dogs. Surviving are daughter Dawn, Halifax, brothers and sisters Tom (Elaine), Yellowknife, Marie (Terry) Lockerbie, Springville, Dan (Mary) Beech Hill, George (Florence), Addington Forks, and honourary brother Greg "the Italian" Gasbarre and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9pm Monday, March 21 in MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St. Antigonish. Funeral Mass 11:00 Tuesday in St. Ninian’s Cathedral, Antigonish. Donations to St. Martha’s Palliative Care.
