I searched a long time trying to find Grammies biscuits. I tried new recipes researched so called best biscuit recipes but couldn’t seem to duplicate Grammies biscuits. You know the ones she made every weekend. We all waited for them to come out of the oven and just bathe them in butter. Well for years no success. I thought I’d never find that flavor memory ever again. Well 4 weeks ago I planned to visit Debbie, Marlene and Darlene for an over night trip to Antigonish. I just wanted to visit and reconnect. Marlene shows up with biscuits and says they are Grammies recipe. I know you’ve been searching for it. Sceptical since it’s been 34 years since I had a biscuit like Grammies. I took the first bite and low and behold I was transported back to when we as kids waited for this exact tasting biscuit. Not only did she bake them and prove this was the recipe but she knew it was the one I was looking for. Marlene was so sweet that she even printed it for me. It was the last thing she gave me.... Grammies recipe to all those memories. It didn’t dawn on me how she came across it and how she had it in her possession for so long. She didn’t have it written down she helped and watched Grammy every week and that was her memory etched in her brain. This recipe that was never written down is now posted in my cupboard as a memory of my Grammy and the one person who connected that childhood memory to her. I am grateful for her kindness, passion and love. You will be missed Marlene by many, you will be missed by me! Love you and thanks for sharing a piece of our childhood.
