Obituary of Sargent Thomas Alfred Sauber
With heavy hearts, the family announces the passing of Tom Sauber, 81, or Antigonish, NS.
Born in Parkdale, Lunenburg Co.; Tom was one of thirteen children born to the late Frank and Sadie Rafuse.
Tom's career began at 18 years of age when he joined the armed forces with the Artillery Division and served in Korea. Having an injury he transferred to the Postal Corp. with postings in France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Egypt and Cyprus. He also served two years on HMC Bonaventure. Retiring in 1985 with 32 years of service, he and Margaret came to Antigonish.
Tom, not be an idle person, began his second career in 1986 as a barber with Henry's Hairstyling, retiring in 2015.
Left to mourn his passing is his ever loving wife Margaret (Melanson); sisters Winnie (Robert) Evanson, Elgin, ILL; Betty (Murray) Isenor, Chester Basin; Connie (Jacob) Penney, New Germany; brothers Frank (Viola), Parkdale; and Donald (Charmaine), Dartmouth; sister-in-law Sarah Melanson, Antigonish; brother-in-laws Joe (Marie) of Pomquet, and William (Doris) of Ontario; along with many nieces and nephews and friends.
Predeceased by parents and sisters Rita, Angeline, and Belle; brothers Max, Roby, Gerald and Calvin.
As per Tom's wishes, cremation has taken place; with a Private interment at a later date.
