Francis “Francie” Grace, 91 of Antigonish and formerly of Croft, Antigonish County passed away peacefully, Monday, July 12, 2021, surrounded by loving family. Born in Upper Springfield, Antigonish County, he was a son of the late Benjamin and Sarah (née MacDonald) Grace.
Francie was a kind and thoughtful father, uncle, and friend to many. He worked as a woodsman for many years and later with the Halifax School Board where he retired. He loved the outdoors, was an avid hunter, a captivating story-teller, and enjoyed a good fiddle tune.
He is survived by daughters Mary (Scott Casey) of Centennial Colorado, Kate (Clement Li) of Toronto and Georgina (Robert Ward) of Dartmouth; brother Everett (Judy); and numerous loving nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife and the love of his life Jean Ethel (née Dailpay), brothers Lewis, Leonard (Mary Margaret), Albert and Charlie, and sisters Margaret (Peter “Paddy” MacDonald), Annabelle, Kathleen and Annie.
Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 pm Wednesday July 14th at MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant Street, Antigonish. Funeral Mass 1 pm Thursday July 15th at St. Andrews Church, St. Andrews, Father Andrew Gillies presiding. COVID-19 protocols will be in place. Grateful and sincere appreciation to the staff at the R. K. MacDonald Nursing Home and St. Martha’s Hospital.
