Sadie Boyd

Obituary of Sadie Eileen Boyd

It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of Sadie Eileen Boyd (nee Murphy Dec 12, 1943 - July 22, 2021).  She is predeceased by her beloved husband Charles Alexander Sr., and her grandson Marcus Wayne.  She passed away peacefully in St. Martha’s Hospital surrounded by her three sons – Charles Alexander Jr. (Kate) and their children: Charles Joseph, Donald Angus, Tyler Alexander, Allison Claire; Wayne Omar (Louise) and their children: Kelsey Jane, Carson Reese; and Sheldon Francis (Renee) and their children: Grace Kenya and Isaiah Marcus.

Her family have been extremely supportive during her illness.  She is survived by her siblings: George (Doreen); Claire; Francis (Archie); Joe (Theresa); Gregory (Georgina); Lena; and Linda (Lorne); and her sister-in-law Margie.  Sadie was also predeceased by her siblings: Danny (Nasha); Peter; Jerome (Betty); John, Robert and James (deceased in infancy) and her brother-in-law Harry.

Sadie was most known for warm, kind heart that thrived upon the love of her three boys and her many grandchildren.  She always welcomed friends and family to her home, and she had a fondness for smokes on the deck, delicious feasts, birdwatching (especially her hummingbirds); and, there was nothing better than a good card match (Skip Bo or Rummy 500)!  She was not one to accept a card defeat easily and always looked forward to re-matches!  Her love of animals was clear in the way Flukie and Haley girl were treated throughout their time with Sadie.

The family would like to thank the St. Martha’s Hospital staff; the RK MacDonald Nursing Home staff; and the High-Crest Sherbrooke Nursing Home staff for their ongoing support during Sadie’s difficult journey and the kindness shown to the family throughout the experience.

There was a small family viewing prior to cremation; which has now taken place.  An outdoor service will be at the St. Columba Cemetery, North Lakevale Rd. on Wednesday July 28, 2021 at 10 am.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Martha’s Hospital, the RK MacDonald Home or the High-Crest Sherbrooke Nursing Home. Online condolences can be sent to: www.MacIsaacs.ca.
