Obituary of Mary Janet MacLellan

It is with loving memory that the family announces the passing of their dear mother and grandmother, Janet MacLellan of Brookland St. on August 5, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Mennie (MacPherson) and Allan MacDonald and was brought up by her aunt and uncle, Margaret and John MacDonald in James River. Janet lived on Brookland St. for most of her adult life. She lived and worked in Boston and in Halifax and was the first manager of Simpson Sears Order office in Antigonish where she worked until she became a stay-at-home mother. She was a life-long learner. She studied business at Mt. St. Bernard College, and continued to take many courses throughout her life including the Christopher Leadership course and enrolled in many courses long into her retirement at St. F.X.U. She was a member of the CWL; she loved reading and was a passionate writer and crossword enthusiast. Moms (Nanny’s) homemade bread and rolls were mouth-watering and enjoyed by family and friends alike. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren who brought her much joy. She is survived by her five daughters and one son Marg (Jack) Soble, Carolyn (Randy) Ross, Isabel (late Robert Wall, Teresa Gillis, Donna (Dave) Sears and Kenny; as well as 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband the late Donald MacLellan, sisters Sophie, Mary and brothers Alex and Dan L. Arrangements are under the direction of MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant Street, Antigonish. Private burial at St Ninian’s Parish Cemetery followed by a family celebration of life. There will be no visitation.
