Obituary of Karen “Dee Dee” MacDonell
Karen "Dee Dee" (Lawson) MacDonell, formerly of Sydney, died suddenly on May 13, 2016 at her home in Antigonish. She was a daughter of the late James and Elizabeth (Brophy) Lawson.
She was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband Lauchlin, formerly of Judique and son Gerald (Naoko). Dee Dee is survived by daughters Colleen, Azerbaijan, and Karen, Oliver, BC.
Left to mourn Karen’s passing are sisters Elizabeth (Jack) Hickey, Port Hawkesbury, Judy Glascow, Mississauga, ON, and brother James, Halifax. She was also predeceased by Charles (Dorothy) and Donna (Tommie) Farrell
Karen worked for the Royal Bank in Port Hawkesbury and as a secretary at the pulp mill in Point Tupper. She was a very diligent worker. She was possessed of a generous spirit throughout her life. Her chief pastime was reading, and was a faithful volunteer at the Opportunity Shop.
A private service was held before burial in St. Ninian’s Cemetery, Antigonish.
