It is with broken hearts that we, the family of the late Dennis DeGruchy of Malignant Cove announce his passing on April 1, 2022 after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer in Saint Martha’s Regional Hospital.

Dennis’s world revolved around the love of his life his wife Leanne and his son Logan. Everything he did in life his first thought was always of them!  He was an excellent carpenter and worked for different construction companies over the years, most recently A. Cameron Construction.  He always looked out for his coworkers and enjoyed offering advice and helping in anyway he could.

Dennis is survived by his wife Leanne (Linkletter) and his best buddy, his son Logan; parents Billy and Madeleine (DeCoste) DeGruchy, Frankville; sister Sheila (Tahira) Germany and brother Dean (Catherine) Frankville; nephews Jacob (Taylor) and Luke (Lauren); Aunt Darlene DeCoste; Uncle Pat DeCoste (Marie); special cousins Chrystal DeCoste (Ottawa), Miriam and Eldora DeGruchy; Aunt/Uncle (Godparents) Andrew and Barbara DeGruchy; brothers-in-law Bobby (Debbie) and Sandy (Viola) Linkletter; sisters-in-law Kathy and Debbie (Jack) Linkletter. Special niece Crystal (Evan) and their children John, Catherine, Emily, Charley, and Ric; nephew Nathan Linkletter. 

He is predeceased by his parents-in-law Robbie and Margie Linkletter, brother-in-law Jimmy Snow, his paternal grandparents Allan and Mary DeGruchy, maternal grandparents William and Lillian DeCoste, Uncles Alexander, Edward and Peter DeGruchy, Uncle Carl A. Decoste and Aunt Mary Theresa DeCoste.

The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff in the Oncology department at the QEII - VG site and the Oncology department and the Palliative Care Unit at Saint Martha’s Regional Hospital, who provided such excellent and compassionate care to Dennis during his illness.  

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 from 2-4 and 7-9 in MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St. Funeral service 11 am Thursday, April 7, in St. James United Church, Main St., Antigonish, Rev. Doug Stewart presiding. Burial in St. David's United Church Cemetery, Cape George, at a later date. The family requests that face masks be worn by all attendees at visitation and funeral.  Donations in memory of Dennis may be made to Cathy’s Place or the Palliative Care Unit at Saint Martha’s Regional Hospital.
