Obituary of Helen Marjorie Grant

Helen passed away peacefully in the RK MacDonald Nursing Home, Antigonish, on April 27, 2022, with her daughter by her side. Born July 2, 1938 in Spanish Ship Bay, NS, she was adopted as an infant by Arnold and Jessie Anna Grant of Loch Katrine, Antigonish County.  

Helen is survived by partner Fred Kiley, Liscomb; daughter Anne (Mark) Farrell and their children Makaylah (Matt) of Halifax, Jayden, Riley and Hayley of Antigonish; sons Malcolm Mason (Joanne) of Spruce Grove, Alberta and Scott Mason (Tracy) and their son Adam of Campbell River, BC. Helen was predeceased by her former spouse Wesley Mason; parents Arnold and Jessie Anna Grant; and brothers George and Russell Grant.

Helen was a stay at home mother who worked long hours on the family dairy farm. She was a past member of the United Church Women’s group at Kings United Church. Helen loved nature, and most of Helen's childhood photos included animals on the farm. Helen enjoyed the company of others, always willing to lend a hand. She loved the oceans and lakes that surrounded her, especially walks along the shoreline.  She loved to go for long drives, take in yard sales, and go to dances. Her last residence in Liscomb overlooked the water and fishing boats, and she enjoyed the serenity of the view. 

Helen was a strong woman who endured a lot over the past five years due to failing health. We will miss you, but we know that you are now at rest. Thank you to the staff of Tanglewood at the RK MacDonald Nursing Home, where mom called home since June 2021. 

Cremation has taken place. Visitation Sunday, May 1, 2022 from 2-4 pm in MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St., Antigonish.  Funeral 11 am Monday, May 2, 2022 in Kings United Church, Loch Katrine. Burial to follow in Kings United Church Cemetery.  Memorial donations to Kings United Church, 21 Copper Lake Road, Goshen NS B0H 1M0. The family requests that masks be worn at visitation and funeral.
